History Regarding Ponderosa Steakhouse: In 1963, Dan Blockner, who played Eric "Hoss" Cartwright on Bonanza started the trend of the Bonanza and Ponderosa Steakhouse. Ponderosa had
first opened in 1971 in Canada. From there the restraunt sky rocked into over 600 restraunts
all over the United States. By 1985 over 36 Ponderosa locations were acquired by General Mills Restraunt Group. In 1997, Ponderosa and Bonanza united under the Metromedia Family Steakhouses organization to form a single restaurant concept marketed under either the Ponderosa or Bonanza brand.In October 2009, the company emerged from bankruptcy under the name Homestyle Dining LLC.
In 2012, Homestyle Dining LLC launched and redesigned Ponderosa and Bonanza websites. As of November 2012, the updated Bonanza store locator indicates that there is over 21 Ponderosa locations in the United States.
